ALGARVE MAP
With almost 200 kilometres of coastline, between cliffs and long-stretching sands, three hundred hours of sun per year and pleasant temperatures influenced by the Mediterranean climate, Algarve is an unparalleled destination both in Europe and throughout the world. The coast, from the Sagres headland until Lagos, is dominated by cliffs and beaches enclosed by protective high cliffs. In Albufeira we witness a transition with the more expansive sands on the beaches stretching to golden cliffs, one of the best examples being at Praia da Falésia. The beaches extend endlessly from Vilamoura to the mouth of the Guadiana and there are beaches to suit all tastes. One can find facilities including restaurants, beach accesses, cloakrooms with shower facilities and other infrastructures. It is especially at the Costa Vicentina where there are still many beaches to explore, for those who appreciate the beauty of nature. Witness an exquisite sunset from these beaches and from the top of the dunes. It is well worth discovering these beaches one-by-one, to dive into the colder waters of the Atlantic between Odeceixe and Sagres, and into the warmer waters that characterise the coast between Sagres and Vila Real de Santo António. Most of the beaches have the Blue Flag award, a European symbol of recognition of the quality of the waters and sands of a particular beach.
